With this Budget, Labor could have introduced a 25% gas export tax and raised $17 billion a year. They could have scrapped the CGT discount and negative gearing instead of grandfathering them for existing investors. They could have gotten rid of fossil fuel subsidies.

The government has been trying to sell these cuts to the Australian community as an anti-fraud measure, but this bill isn’t anti-fraud, it’s anti-disabled people. And it’s an indictment of Labor’s Budget priorities.

I also want to say be kind to vets. They have to process the deaths of animals as well as the unrealistic and sometimes hostile reactions from people when it comes to the bill. They're (mostly) very compassionate and caring souls for whom animal welfare is their passion. I'm so grateful to my vets 💕

Doomscrolling every social media I have because if I stop I'll have to think about Puss dying in my arms last night and my eyes are so sore from crying.

The vet bill for hospitalising and euthanising my Puss yesterday is over $2.5K. She was there for 7 hours. I got to take home a bill, not my cat. And while I respect that veterinary medicine is expensive, it's also no wonder why people are surrendering & abandoning their pets.

A voice is screaming WHAT IF at me so loud it fills my head with the thunder of failure. I know the painful reality is that sometimes tragic complications happen despite our best intentions & care. That voice, the one that also shouts "it's my fault" is speaking from grief, not facts. Cold comfort.

And just like that, she's gone. My dear sweet little Puss girl. Kidneys failed, ultrasound showed liver mass. Vet said they couldn't save her and so I held another fur baby as she was put to forever sleep. I'm just broken. 💔😭 #RIP
