I'm a liberal but: Why do people say the deficit growing is bad? The deficit represents new treasuries outstanding. Treasuries are how entities in our economy hold reserves (savings) to protect them from inflation and risk. It is necessary for treasuries outstanding/deficit (real savings) to grow.
