Think people who only encounter the odyssey through high school excerpts forget how it’s structured. It begins in media res with Telemachus searching for his dad then shifts to his dad with with the Phaeacians telling his story (which is rather abbreviated from its outsized impact on west culture)

This is going to be a dad movie. And I’m here for it. I still got some issues with what I’ve seen but this tells me me Nolan has got is finger on what the Odysseus and the Odyssey is. It’s not just an adventure story, is a story about domesticity and what a man will do to get back to it.
