The rule also removes protections for ephemeral streams (waterways that flow only after rain or snow) despite their importance to downstream water quality. In short, this proposal rolls back long-standing protections and leaves millions of acres of waterways more vulnerable to pollution.

I personally use option B because it makes sense to apply it in the geom function, but I love the idea of option C for mapping your aes and then doing your geometry functions separately. Either way all options need to be taught to new R users. Great post — check it out!

We've long known that ferns were the first to establish after the ☄️ that killed the 🦕. They're also some of the first species to arrive after 🌋. In a new paper, led by former BEAST Lab postdoc Lauren Azevedo-Schmidt, we suggest that ferns may play a special role in ecological recovery.
