started Discworld with The Color of Magic, absolutely hilarious book so far!

Started Hades II this week after patiently awaiting its 1.0 launch. As expected, the roguelike gameplay is awesome and a true upgrade over the first game, but I'm loving the writing most of all.

I was updating my Backloggd today and came to the conclusion that I need to play more games, shocking.

My personal GOTY for 2024 is hitting the Switch! A lot of the games on here are worth the $25 alone (looking at you, Mortol, Rock On! Island, and Porgy...) Seriously, play this game if you haven't already, it's kind of impossible to not fall in love with at least a few of the games in here.

indie dev is interesting because you have to make something for yourself, something laser targeted at your inner sicko, because trying to do it for anyone else will hollow you out, and then when it's done you have to turn around and lie to everyone that it was actually for them all along

Been floundering a bit in my game projects recently, so I'm pretty happy I stumbled upon @mossmouth.bsky.social's excellent articles of advice on how to finish games. I think both of them are good reads, even if you feel pretty experienced at shipping (I don't, lol).

Just finished TUNIC, found all the pages and everything, thoroughly enjoyed. I haven't spent that much time scribbling notes on paper to figure out puzzles since ANIMAL WELL. No wonder that game has an easter egg for this one, very similar vibe in the late game. Also the music SLAPS

Just got leaning-based VR movement done on this side project I'm working on but not without a lot of trial and error. It turns out my vector math skills are Not Good at the moment, need to sharpen them up!

It's been so addicting playing with a prototype for a feature in a new game mode of my game! Surface snapping was tricky to pull off but not as bad as I thought it would be. Meta's SDK is very powerful. Fun extra: I can filter snappable surfaces by type (vertical, flat) & label (bed, couch, floor)

After officially releasing yesterday, I spent last night playing in ranked mode in Rivals of Aether 2, and I'm really loving how it feels. Historically, no platform fighter I've ever played has come close to the Smash Bros. series, but this game might change that. Feels like a step up in many ways.

Worth noting that lots of devs who don't work in VR are uninformed about the current state of VR. They see what's happening with PSVR and PCVR because they look at PS5 and Steam on a regular basis, but have no idea what's happening with Quest, and Quest is the huge majority of the VR market.

So recently I've developed a bit of an obsession with chess after a lifelong disinterest in the game and being surrounded by people who love to play it. Upon reflection, I'm putting the blame squarely on UFO 50, specifically Bug Hunter and Devilition.
