One thing that could be different this time: Iran won’t be the only one with drone swarm capability. This could be the first major combat test of the US-made LUCAS drone. With as quickly as Israel established air dominance last time, that’s a major problem for Iran.

I’m speculating here, but mid March was almost certainly leaked as a diversion. I seriously doubt they’re just going to park those AWACS, Growlers, and F-22s in the Middle East for a month, along with two carrier strike groups (one on an extended deployment).

This isn’t super surprising - DOD has been increasingly relying on AI for operations. I’ve written about this several times. Some people seem surprised that they used an off the shelf model rather than a propriety product, but DODs AI suite incorporates almost all of the models.

Adding a LLM to the suite gives options like “analyze all ISR data from ___ in the last 24hrs” This is giving analysts the ability to process MASSIVE amounts of information in a short period of time. It makes targeting faster, helps plan ingress and egress routes, etc. It’s a lot. 2/2
