I can’t say enough good stuff about the structure of Mance vs Gabe. The first 20 minutes felt like 5, and the last 10 felt like 20. The violence being so fast and furious for so long really earns the lethargic psychology near the end. Also the bell-to-bell being bookended by unsanctioned attacks.

That brainbuster Mance took on the upright chair was a thing of beauty.

I might go back and watch that SGC vs War Dogs match from a while back tonight, that singles encounter was so good. Something about the styles just gel so well. Rednecks versus gaijins with an extremely similar fondness for aggressive, straightforward fighting.

Gabe Kidd understood the elite level of performer he was facing in Mance Warner, and he gave everything in the match. Not a lot of guys visiting from Nooj would go that hard in a room like that, but Kidd understood the significance of the encounter. He knows ball.
