I think there's also a very strong element of like 'we've socially engineered people to behave a certain way' being seen 500 IQ game design instead of deeply evil. vs 'we have theories about what would be interesting/fun and want to see how people respond'

rts arcade game would fuck so hard. imagining just the most micro-intensive shit packed into a 25m run. i wish arcade gamedevs would branch out a bit and bring the format to more games. Devil Daggers proves that games that normally aren't arcade titles can work really well with the right design.

I love doing fake lightrays, I’m addicted and cannot stop. My game has no real-time shadows or ambient occlusion, instead it is all hand painted using a classic technique called Vertex Colouring. It lets me to create fake light rays, shadows and more, making the world feel alive.

There's definitely misinformation floating around about 'slop' code in Godot. As I understand it, it's code that in the end could not be rewritten any other way, but the fact that AI had been allowed in any capacity, when it's negative impacts are so clear to the world, is a perfectly valid panic.

If anyone uses the term "AI Luddite" you can pretty much immediately file them under 'troglodyte' in your mind.

LOL this is the first thing you see in ole Johnny Blow's new game

After playing more Devil Daggers, I'm kinda sad that indie FPS didn't try and elaborate on the ideas here. The insane 1-hit-kill punishment, the arcade style focus on getting a high score, seeing more and more of the game as you get better and better. It's so good.

Btw this game is not only an FPS, but it has an entirely separate RPG game in it which is incredibly good if you're into Mother style old school stuff. Undertale-y combat. It's kinda locked behind playing the FPS game (there's a cheat to unlock all segments of the game right away tho which is neat)

If the hub world for my game can have 5% of the sauce of a Blendo world, I'll be happy. I keep Quadrilateral Cowboy and Skin Deep installed to this day just to poke around the non-gameplay levels. They're SO cozy.

I never really looked into Dune stuff before reading the book... I feel like the general interpretation of how everything should look in that world is wildly different from my personal interpretation. Like that Dune Spice Wars game looks sick, but in my head that's not what those dudes was wearing.
