I think my resolution for the new year will be making games in the same way that I make a Quake map for a jam. Try to get a flow going, involve others, just make some stuff people wanna play.

I need some music suggestions for the QBJ3 trailer. This is driving me crazy. Every song I try just isn't it, or it's perfect but the song doesn't edit down to a minute and a half.

This is probably reductionist, but is there any real reason why AAA keeps meat-grindering people to make 7/10s that they put a quadrillion man hours into refining, rather than just taking on a retro visual style and saving everyone the trouble of having to realistically stimulate horse genitalia?

Wall-running has to be one of the biggest design traps in gaming. There's very, very few games where it can be implemented as something fun and engaging to the overall sandbox without it instantly nuking level design into the floor. Even Respawn refused to put it into Apex, lol.

I remember working for a company that wanted us to use some special site to get paid. I literally stopped working until they allowed me to not use it, because it required me to upload a 360 of my face, and my Passport needed to be in the same shot. Fucking insane dystopian crap.

It's a little sad to me that roguelike games moved away so quickly from the Nuclear Throne style where the moment-to-moment was more important than chasing the perfect build, getting synergies and breaking the game. It's not like I don't enjoy that, but variety is king.

back on the qbj3 start map. I have to fit 76 maps. ᵒʰ ᵍᵒᵈ ᵒʰ ᶠᵘᶜᵏ my previous idea of an abandoned but oddly maintained earthscraper dug into a meat planet isn't gonna work anymore, so I'm gonna go the museum route. we'll still have secrets to find.

Low-key the next project might just be a standalone Brutalist Mod game on the Quake engine... hm
