Since taking over as acting attorney general, Blanche has been working determinedly to impress Trump, hoping to make the post permanent.

The vagueness of the agreement set up a situation where JD Vance and acting AG Todd Blanche were made to sorta publicly eat shit on Tuesday, selling the arrangement to the masses as they responded to pointed questions from reporters and, in Blanche’s case, bipartisan concerns from lawmakers.

93 House Dems, including Jeffries signed off on an amicus brief with the court on Monday in an attempt to “block this unconstitutional taxpayer-funded settlement." In the filing they said Trump’s scrutiny-evading dismissal & settlement “raises the specter of corruption unparalleled" in US history.

It was the perfect sound byte for Dems who are not having to do too much to remind Americans that Trump’s economy, & his decision to launch another endless war, is ruining their financial prospects, at a time where record high inflation and Trump’s own tariffs are making it hard to afford anything.

These funding freezes are part of Trump’s ongoing quest to find novel ways to punish blue state officials he deems political foes, and the residents of blue states/cities who oppose him.

Since 2020, the phrase “election integrity” has been weaponized as a catchall term for whenever Trump loses elections and Republicans want to blame his loss on whatever version of the rampant, widespread voter fraud myth is most politically advantageous to them at the moment ...
