Gave
exe.dev
a spin today. I used it to turn a pdf of a half-marathon training plan into a calendar view for tracking workouts between specific start and race dates, all while I was putting away Christmas decorations. I think I could get used to this

hello all! if youāve been tracking your plays, we made you a year-end thing. weāre not data scientists, but we tried crunching your numbers anyway. your top tracks, listening patterns, and all the stats you (probably?) didnāt know you wanted. happy new year from all of us!

1. You can't prevent incidents by expecting people to just pay more attention. 2. Creating a process for people to follow is just a formal way of saying "pay more attention". Design systems to prevent problems from happening even when people aren't paying attention.

TIL that the 1Password cli can be completely unusable during a cloud outage. I'd just assumed it'd be able to use data from the 1Password desktop app on the same machine even when offline but nope.

This sounds reasonable but is 100% wrong. Whether you or agree or disagree with a study is completely immaterial. What matters is whether the study was conducted properly and generates valid results. And it's impolitic to say but it's true: you have to have some level of expertise to judge that.

someone has inadvertently gifted me with a Walmart+ trial account. Of course I won't take it but I wish there was some way to let this person know what a bad idea that was.

Today I learned that going through preclearance in the US terminal of the Vancouver airport means that you are legally back in the US. Does that mean all the Tim Hortons in the US terminal are actually Canadian embassies?

Learned a lesson about
@flox.dev
today. The more stuff you have in a default environment the more likely it is that youāll accidentally leave something out of a project environment because itās already available. Wonāt be obvious until someone else tries to use the project without your default env

I don't put a lot of CTA's out but I'm asking for help on this one. Missouri has a couple tools to fight the republicans here trying to steal congressional seats from left wing voices in the state and permanently make it ruby red. But we need help. Please donate or spread the word!

Kansas City (and Jackson County) had its single democratic rep stolen by the republican party state dictatorship yesterday and it hardly made the news. To turn our district red, republicans redistricted KC residents to share a representative with people who live 3 hours away.

Let me say what the President won't: Domestic violence is not okay. It's immoral, illegal and abusive, and no real man is okay would do it, approve of it, or minimize it.

If you understand what software engineering as a career actually entails (lots of people and organizational problems, understanding legacy code and tradeoffs) you are at a career advantage over those who understand the job as just producing code. Those jobs could be replaced. But that aināt the job
