Fantastic article in The Atlantic that clarifies 1) how the $20 fast food min. wage in California was a success and 2) why folks all think it was a failure (hint: it's because of right leaning institutions manipulating data + a general public with little understanding of complex economics)

man this was just an insane election map. not just because of the east vs west divide, but also because it shows the last time the Democrats were successful in electing a blatantly conservative candidate. I don't know why they feel like that's still a winning strategy nowadays.
