Yes it 100% is. But from reading the context in which the expression was coined, the deconstructionist discourse on “sex as fixed, gender as variable” wasn’t a thing then. *Gender dysphoria* was the term thought the best fitted by the Stanford MD who ran one of the first US gender clinics.
