had a good talk with friend who reminded me that while i can point to stuff i'm unhappy about, it isn't the cause of my depression. it's a genetic, episodic brain disorder that has very little in the way of triggers. making myself a forehead stamp that says "it is what it is motherfucker!"

it always strikes me that when it comes to mania, everybody's like "YOU MUST ACCEPT IT IS INCURABLE, FOREVER. DO NOT TRY TO CONTROL IT WITH YOUR BRAIN!! IMPOSSIBLE! you must count on loved ones, meds, and hospital!" but with bipolar depression it's like "what if you just. did more positive thinking"
