The Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 is without a doubt some of the best content in the game. Finished one ending already and I'm working on the other now. My heart breaks for Songbird.

Thanks to a glitch, I've enjoyed free Amazon Prime shipping for over 15 years. The feature that allowed the glitch to exist is being discontinued, so I'll be losing free shipping. Oh well. I feel really good knowing I cost Amazon even just a few thousand dollars worth of lost revenue, honestly.

I'm going to be joining a few friends tomorrow night to observe the Purple Martin roost. If you're local & haven't ever seen it, you should absolutely join us. Pictures & video do not do it justice.

Had a pretty fantastic weekend. For the most part. Went to lunch with a friend on Friday, which ended with them being shitty. They've since apologized, but change is the best apology, so we'll see. After that I had to waste a few hours & way more money than I'd wanted on having some car work done.

I wish I were more of a Clark Kent, but without a doubt I'm actually a Reed Richards. Good with problems, less so with people; being myself hurts people I care about in ways I would never intend; and I wouldn't wish my brain on anyone else ever.

Made psilocybin mushroom tea this weekend, and it was without a doubt my favorite mushroom preparation I've ever done. Mushrooms normally tear my stomach up & that really negatively affects my experience. The tea made me feel very, very full, but there was none of the stomach pain I normally get.

I saw "Sinners" this week and I have SO MANY THOUGHTS. Stunning barely begins to cover it. I've already written mini essays in conversations with friends talking about various aspects of it. There's so much going on, and it's all so beautifully done. If you appreciate stories, you need to see it.

Feel like an extended social media break is due. Seeing the endless stream of despair-inducing, horrific news on Bluesky is extremely depressing, and that's really all this place is. The social media sites that seem to be more about sharing personal stuff though are ethically compromising.

Had a really good weekend. Played a bunch of Baldur's Gate 3, saw an incredible burlesque show that was entirely Bjork-themed, had a productive lunch talking through some issues with a friend, and had a great afternoon hanging out with some friends I don't hang out with often.

Some friends have been encouraging me to get my passport renewed, but I don't really see the point. I don't have anywhere to go or any way to get there. The family I have are all here. I don't blame anyone for leaving, if they have a reason to & a place to go, but not everyone does.

Just read the Silent Hill 2 remake did so well, Konami is letting Bloober Team do an original game in one of Konami's existing franchises. Hasn't been revealed which franchise but if it's not a new Silent Hill game then I kinda hope they let them do a new Castlevania.

Unexpectedly got all of this past week off due to weather. Had a fantastic time curling up on my couch with my cat, and playing Baldur's Gate 3. Kinda nice being back at work though, just to be around people again.

Just found out, you gotta turn this option on separately for the website AND the app, in case you use both. The setting doesn't carry over from one to the other.

There is nothing more decorous and proper than ejecting Nazis from a space with as much rancor and force as is necessary. If you value decorum, the correct thing to do is to fight them, loudly, tooth and nail until they are gone.

The study found that some local communities near tiger habitats have also benefited from the increase in tigers because of the foot traffic and revenues brought in by ecotourism.

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers have developed a nasal COVID-19 vaccine that BLOCKS transmission of the virus. This suggests vaccines delivered directly to the nose or mouth could play a CRITICAL role in containing the spread of respiratory infections. Phase I clinical trials HAVE BEEN APPROVED! 🧪🧵⬇️

We added a Patriot Act compliance officer to our org chart. This person was a real employee. Well, WAS. The office of Patriot Act compliance would be assigned to whichever employee had just left our library. And gosh, it’s just such a mess around here, you know.

The library where I worked at the time did not successfully fulfill a single Patriot Act request. Not that this is relevant to the current situation. I assure you this is a random memory that popped into my head with zero prompting.

Unfortunately nobody can remember the password to the system that has those records. So we have to get IT involved, which means running through more detailed security resets to make sure other systems aren’t compromised. It should take a couple weeks.

We figured, what’s the fun in just telling them there’s nothing? What the feds always forget is that librarians LOVE weaponizing bureaucracy for a good cause. We developed a compliance policy just for the Patriot Act.

When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests. We deleted and shredded those records and stopped tracking reading history for that reason. ALSO.

I've known of Proton Mail as an alternative to Gmail, but I just discovered Proton has calendar, password manager, & drive storage apps (as well as VPN & Bitcoin wallet apps, if you need those). I'm going to be setting up an account with them & testing out the calendar & mail apps soon.

If you should happen to need evidence that google is full of shit about this, here’s the rationale the company presented: “We got feedback that some other events and countries were missing — and maintaining hundreds of moments manually and consistently globally wasn’t scalable or sustainable.”
