Thank you to my workout app, which sent me a notification to suggest that I should celebrate the upcoming mother's day with a special "mom workout".

The (extremely critical) 6 year old told me "wow you look cool mama" so I am never changing out of this outfit.

Proud to announce that after scoring a grand total of 0 goals all season I scored a hat trick at scrimmage and I am quitting ice hockey while I'm ahead.

I got myself all worked up to do a midiprep for the lab and be useful. Turns out we ran out of competent bacteria. Turns out actually not but I just couldn't find them. Folks, it has finally happened.

Seeing the "closed" sign in front of the coffee place I dragged my 3 yo to, in 20 cm of snow for 30 min, I pronounced the famous words of Napoleon during his Russia campaign: " well, fuck".

As the year draws to a close, the UU system is asking me to register my hours, so here is my recent template: 1h buying food 3h eating food 1h discussing other foods to eat 30 min exercising 3h with kids at ice rink/swimming pool/merry-go-round 1h laying down the law about one thing or other

Another KLM fiasco. Flight cancelled, got rebooked allegedly today,checked our luggage. It's in fact tomorrow. We must take 3 planes to do a trip that's usually 1h. We cannot get our luggage back because "it's in a secure area" so no option to take a train instead. Kids are crying. Happy holidays!

I had a great time at NWO Biophysics. - great science - did not fall off the podium while talking - got asked twice if I was a student or a postdoc (well done, anti-wrinkle face cream) - got excellent socks for being in the poster jury

French citizenship revoked.

Had the best time visiting the IGBMC in Strasbourg! Great science, fun people, awesome cheese at the breakfast buffet.

Despite telling people to not get me anything for my birthday, I received a bunch of cheeses, wines, delicacies from various countries, fancy teas and football jerseys. And a croissant. Legit.

Last week, Babette van Amen started her PhD in the group after expanding all sorts of weird bugs in @gautamdey.bsky.social 's lab for 6 months! Welcome Babette!

As I biked my lovely 5yo to her favorite activity, she asked "mama, why are we moving like slugs?" If you see her, she needs a lift back home.

Put some glitter on for a disco themed department party and the glitter won't go away so I guess that's who I am now.
