People are acting like the US flag existed in this prejudice-free time before white nationalism existed and it simply did not, the two have always been associated

Monolingualism is bad for us and for society for reasons like this. We see our own view on language (and therefor pronouns, gender, etc) as the only view. We are only ever with those who speak the same language as us. It prevents us from having empathy for the effort it takes to learn a language.

Someday we're going to have a conversation about how many of the latino people being deprted are indigenous to the americas, and how their indigeneity is the marker that people profile and look for when they're looking for "mexicans".

This story is out of Salem, Oregon, Thursday January 29th. a woman was pulled out of her car by her arm, tearing her rotator cuff and bruising several ribs. ICE went through her things until they found a passport and then just left. Leaving her injured and with no way to leave the scene.
