The Cascade Point Ferry terminal remains an obsession for the Alaska Department of Transportation, regardless of the outpouring of folks in Southeast Alaska who oppose the project. According to a new article by the Alaska Beacon, legislators are joining in on the skepticism.

Countless marine animals native to Southeast Alaska rely on our waters being clean for survival. Heavy fuel oil use in large marine vessels pollutes our waters, leaving them with an unhealthy environment.

According to The Wilderness Society (bit.ly/3Ts4nVB), hundreds of millions of acres of public lands could be up for sale in the Senate version of the reconciliation bill, and that includes large swaths of the Tongass. The State is planning to extend the Juneau road to Cascade Point which also happens to be where mining company Grand Portage Resources plans to build an ore shipping terminal to serve their proposed gold mine by the Herbert Glacier.
