Aaah someone has just brought me an actual copy of a local church magazine from 1933 with an advert for the shop in it! It lists the shop number as 99. That's because when my great grandfather came up here, there were no numbers on the street yet, so he decided he'd be 99. That's all it took 🙂

I wonder what it is about working behind the counter of a tiny hardware shop that lands me at the junction of therapist and confessional? Trying to help folks is what we do, but that's usually nuts and bolts. I hear about relationships, medical stuff, mental health. Still surprises me.

I see they're re-releasing Assassins Creed Black Flag. Fond memories of that one - not the assassin shenanigans (though they were very good) but putting our son (then 2) on my lap in the sailing parts, and we'd be rocking about all over the place with the waves. Teaching him sea shanties! 🙂

It is looking entirely possible that I might get a couple of hours at a beer festival this weekend 🙂

An absolute pleasure listening to Dirk and Blythy yesterday on @thegrognardfiles.bsky.social talking about Pirates of Drinax has of course got me digging out my Traveller books this morning. It's always the way 😂

It occurred to me this morning that I've had the same mobile phone for almost seven years. The battery isn't as good as it used to be, of course, but aside from that, it's still chugging along nicely. Does everything I need. Still has plenty of storage space, too. A bit different to the old days.

Sorry for the flood of ‘scruffy bonkers colours’ stuff this last week. It’s nice to just let loose. It being fun to do doesn’t hurt, either :)

It’s only a short read, but I absolutely rattled through The Dagger in Vichy. Loved it. Felt almost like I could borrow with only a few tweaks for a Hawkmoon game. Not sure if Alastair Reynolds is on here, but if he is, please tell him I’d 100% read more in this setting.
