Throwback to 2015! Some old artwork has found its way to a new exhibition in Paris. 'La Fabrique du Temps' explores the theme of time through postal objects and contemporary art. My original watercolour illustrations of the White Rabbit and the Mad Hatter's tea party both feature in the exhibition.

Happy publication day to Robin Hood! I’ve illustrated several covers for the re-issue of Michael Morpurgo’s catalogue but I think this is my favourite, not least because Robin was my childhood hero! #illustration

Mountain background for a thing. I do like drawing mountains! Sometimes, not often, it seems like all you have to do is turn up and the work makes itself. Today was a day like that. I love charcoal, it’s almost magical. You put it down, treat it nicely and it just does stuff for you.

I was thrilled to illustrate this cover for the new book by award-winning, New York Times bestselling author, Geraldine McCaughrean. The fiery sky was painted with gouache and the smoke textures were made with charcoal, all put together in photoshop and finished digitally. Out April '25 #kidlitart

I do actually have a new book out this year, but I'm going to continue to promote my other books too because there are still too many young readers who haven't yet discovered this interactive series in which YOU decide what happens next & yet there are no dead ends. They're different to other books.

I came across a copy of Susan Cooper’s ‘Over Sea Under Stone’ at the weekend, illustrated by Margery Gill, c.1965. I love her energetic line work and the way she balances it with areas of bold black brushwork. Her composition is wonderful and the poses of her characters are so fluid and natural.

Over the next few weeks I'll be illustrating the sequel to Wolf Road by @profaliceroberts.bsky.social. It's been a year since I've worked in charcoal so I hope the muscle memory is still there! I made a couple of these time-lapses while doing Book One which are handy for reminding me of the process!

Great to see the love ‘I Am Rebel’ has been getting. Huge congratulations to Ross Montgomery for winning the Books Are My Bag readers award and being shortlisted for Waterstones book of the year! It was such a joy illustrating this cover and being a small part of Rebel’s adventure.
