Sword Slash Adventure has a village that gets slowly rebuilt through completing quests! It serves as the main menu and the HQ for hero and his friends.

I was so thrilled to get to do 3D scenes for Sword Slash because it had been YEARS since I worked on any 3D stuff. I had to relearn a lot of it (get into Blender also), while still going relatively fast as there was a lot that needed to be done.

Sword Slash also has characters!! The player is called hero and is never shown. Robin and Jay are their friends, they are red and blue just like the two swords. The villager represents the village and gives quests. Momo, Willow, Benny and Cassie are each found in a different biome.

Some creature concepts! The cute cacti didn’t make it because they were too clearly associated with the desert and we needed our monsters to be more flexible in terms of location 😔

Some early concepts I did for Sword Slash!! I wanted the game to be bright and colorful and look a bit like a children’s book. My first pass at the beach was full of corals and huge conches, with brighamia inspired palm trees.

On Spooky Express I also concepted biomes for the park! The mockup was in a graveyard, we had to think of other spooky settings.. A pumpkin patch, a dark forest, a swamp, a manor, a crypt.. and many more! I tried to concept a lot of them fast so we could then pick and choose the best ones.
