Post a banger not in English: Banger opening to an amazing anime series, with a music video that's a banger in its own right. Raw creativity unleashed.

people want a Zelda movie to be "what if Ocarina of Time was LotR" when what it should be is an 80-minute anime OVA released in the early 90's with the weirdest plot you've ever seen and at least one original character who was so endearing that it physically hurts they aren't in any of the games

Gamedev life: I discovered a 10-year-old bug in how we handle allocating credit for particular types of damage. The fix is a nearly-trivial two-liner, but I don't dare make it for fear of whether the bug is load-bearing on any rewards design.

Has anyone hit a thing where Bluesky seems to cut the current timeline off at some point? At least on the web client I see everything going back about 12-15 hours but then it's cutting to posts (not reposts) from a month ago and hard-refreshing doesn't seem to change it. Android client seems okay.

Before publicly celebrating terrible things happening to bad people, maybe don't just ask yourself if such statements are "fair" or if those people "deserve" what's happening to them... Maybe ask yourself: "Will this help?" and "Is this healthy?" And take a moment if the answer to both is "No."

Last year I decided to try a neat-seeming idea I'd seen on social media: rather than a list of big New Year's Resolutions I'd do 'resolution bingo': a 5x5 grid of resolutions:some easy, some a little more challenging. Overall I think it turned out remarkably well.

Just did this and I know there are a lot more Washingtonians out there. I'd suggest emphasizing (especially if your representative is a Democrat) that these bills inevitably lead to queer youth being denied access to critical online resources.

Doing the 'US Level' thing from
tenpages.github.io/us-level/us....
. There's some measure of fudging between 'stayed here' and 'visited here', since many of my stays in places were _for_ visits. Most of the Great Plains areas are thanks to a Scouting trip to Philmont that was a US tour.

This video's maybe the best I've seen at directly showing the impact of the flooding out here. This is at the edge of a small town (Duvall) about 15-20 miles northeast of downtown Seattle. Most of what you see flooded here is farmland.

That $130 million private donation to the "troops" sounds like a lot, but there are about 1.2 - 1.3 million men and women in uniform. That $100 each per is going to go a real long way after a month and more of no pay. Besides its illegality, there's no way to get the money to the "troops".

Just learned about AGI-based floors for deductions for charitable giving that were rammed through as part of the OBBBA. This sucks: if you itemize, it makes regular giving to support charities' ongoing needs harder, and it discourages giving to a variety of causes.

More programming streaming tonight. It's going to be a bit of a change of pace today: I've got some shapes that need building out, so it's time to dive back into OpenSCAD for some parametric polyhedra! Tune in at 7:30 PDT at

Hey personal lazyweb: does anyone have experience debugging C++ on MacOS? I've been able to build but I'm hitting an apparently well-known bug where LLDB chews up _all_ the memory as soon as you try to display variables. I presume that it's _possible_ to do C++ on Macs but I've had no luck...
