I love baseball, in part, because often it tells a larger, more approachable story of America. It’s a sport of the times, many times. It’s narrative and topical, surprisingly so—sometimes breathtakingly so. Tonight was one of those times.

Baseball remains the best. Excellent tournament.

So I decided to watch Train Dreams on the flight home. It’s quite good. Slow burn and absolutely heartbreaking. It’s very much worthy of a best picture nomination. Clint Bentley (Dallas’ own) directed it. Highly recommend.
