75 years ago, May 19: The Looney Tunes cartoon Rabbit Fire is released. Written by Michael Maltese and directed by Chuck Jones. Marks a shift in Daffy Duck's personality from screwball to Bugs Bunny's rival and also marks the first time Daffy ever says "You're despicable."

‘The Powerpuff Girls’ creator Craig McCracken has posted a touching tribute to Tom Kane along with an illustration of Professor Utonium and Mr. Harriman: “I grew up without a dad, so it was important to me that the girls had the best one I could give them and that was Tom.”

Twenty-five years ago today, Shrek was released. One of the most famous films released from DreamWorks, this animated parody of fairy tale films is still a hilarious ride thanks to its witty story, great animation, and the memorable cast of characters.

35 years ago today, we were introduced to Comic Book Guy. #TheSimpsons episode “Three Men and a Comic Book” first aired May 9, 1991.

Nintendo was also probably inspired by the original puppet models and promo art of the SNES Star Fox. I personally see this new photorealistic look as a nice throwback to the franchise's visual roots.

I understand Nintendo fans want everything to be cartoon cereal mascot games but I'd like to point out from an artist's standpoint, that the new game's art style is adapting the style from the SNES game's artwork into a modern look and I personally think that's really cool!

He was not a perfect man, but Without Ted Turner, there'd be no CNN, no TNT, no TCM, no Adult Swim, but most of all, no Cartoon Network! The majority of my childhood just straight up wouldn't exist without him, I wouldn't have gotten into Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera or Tom & Jerry without him! RIP

Seeing all of these tributes to Ted Turner today gives me a bittersweet feeling of realizing that if every billionaire actually cared about the media they bought like he did, the entertainment industry would be in a much better place than where it is now. RIP to the king of cable TV.

The legacy that Ted Turner had for film and animation cannot be understated. Without him, we wouldn't have had Cartoon Network or Turner Classic Movies which helped keep the legacy of Hanna-Barbera and the classic films in the MGM library alive. An important figure, no doubt.

Ted Turner, the media pioneer and philanthropist who, among his many accomplishments, founded the Cartoon Network, passed away today at the age of 87.

Ted Turner lived long enough to witness the complete befouling of a significant part of his life’s work (CNN, cable news, arguably cable television altogether) but somehow Turner Classic Movies endures and that’s pretty awesome.

We say goodbye to our founder, the visionary Ted Turner. Ted’s love of classic films inspired him to create a channel dedicated to preserving them. He considered TCM one of his greatest accomplishments. His passion continues to inspire us all as we work to fulfill his mission.
