Public librarian/cataloger, voracious reader, history buff.
I love these games so much! Pretty much every time I see them mentioned I wish I could immediately sit down and play them again.

I signed this. ProPublica marketed HARD on being the last journalists with integrity standing. I believed them and donated the equivalent of my subscription to the Post two years in a row. They won't see a dime from me if they don't fly right.

Last day of

and after a little last-minute agonizing about which book to make my last pick, I'm going with THE GIRLS WHO GREW BIG by Leila Mottley. This emotional story about complicated but powerful friendships between teen moms in Florida totally hooked me with its vivid characters!

Day 9 for

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

This is a good reminder for those of us making best of lists that if yours looks like everyone else's, it's a sign that you need to read more widely. There is so much great work that often goes unnoticed because it doesn't get a splashy marketing campaign.

Jesse Hamm had the take to end all takes on children's media. "People who disdain writing โjust for childrenโ fail to realize that those children will remember what they read, maybe for the rest of their lives. Youโre not writing for permanent children; youโre getting an early start on adults.โ

pick is THE ART OF A LIE by Laura Shepherd-Robinson, exactly the kind of twisty historical fiction I can't resist! A widow in 18th century London hopes to save her struggling confectionary shop with ice cream...but she'll have to proceed very carefully if she wants to succeed.

I honestly think that many people don't know what their public libraries offer besides books. I think that everyone should go on a public library treasure hunt in 2026. Go explore what your library systems offer at no cost to you. Report back to me :)

"All is lost" narratives are popular because people generally do not want to take action. Taking action is tiring so if all is lost, you are off the hook. Nothing is more seductive than not having to do anything.
