Testing a few samples this sunny Saturday morn: Vernus (Jorum) - spicy, smokey jasmine and other agrestic goodies. Paprika! Waves. Gyokuro (Merchant of Venice) - clean, crisp peachy white tea that's perceptibly scratchy on open. This is growing on me as it dries down. Hugs. #perfumesky #perfume

Retesting some Eris samples - Ma Bete, Delta of Venus, and Night Flower. I like MB much more now than I did previously - a beautiful, animalic/aldehydic beast I'd offer a hug to. DofV is a beautiful guava, but quite fleeting. I wore NF before bed and woke up sniffing my arm in delight. #perfumesky

I’m testing out some skin musk / animalic scents - Under My Skin (Francesca Bianchi) on one arm and L’Air de Rien (Miller Harris) on another. I like them (hugs to) both - they’re distant relations but of the same ilk. LdeR is more aloof and cool, USM is a bit more direct, open, and warm. #perfumesky

My #sotd is Anné Pliska / Anné Pliska. I bought this a long time ago, I think on recommendation of being a budget but goodie scent. It's a a very long lasting vanilla musk patchouli amber extravaganza, familiar yet many things at once. A little goes a long way. #perfumesky #perfume

#sotn from yesterday and today's #sotd are Autumn 24 (Ffern) and Vaara (Penhaligons). The Ffern is probably going onto my swap shelf. It's a nice, but not remarkable spiced/fruity/cozy journey. Vaara retains the honor of my shelves - an airy melody of quince and rose. #perfumesky #perfume

Tested a few Hilde Solani perfumes today (Drink Menta, Drink Caffe) - both interesting and deserving of waves. Drink Menta is basically Crema di Latte but sub mint for caramel. Tonight I finally tested CdG Avignon - HUGS! Late to the party but grateful to arrive. A fine incense. #sotd #perfumesky

My #sotn is Dreamtime by @filigreeandshadow.co which I bought based on notes (I KNOW) and I'm very happy with (ha!). This reminds me of dappled light coming through the trees, reading in a cozy spot, the nuzzle of a cat's nose. It's not too warm or cold and makes me happy. #perfumesky #fragrancesky

I thought I liked tea scents and realized I mostly like smoky black tea tea perfumes - specially lapsang souchong. Case in point with my #sotd which is Indigo Smoke by Arquiste. Something about it just feels like home. #perfumesky #fragrancesky

My #sotd is Tears of Iris, something I admittedly bought after testing once because I'm a sucker for iris and owls. Tears are involved because this is fleeting, sort of à la Apres L'Ondee. Quickly becomes skin musk. Pretty though. #perfumesky #fragrancesky

My #sotd was Ffern Summer ‘23. In contrast, testing two animalic scents for the evening: Marlou’s Heliodose and Dzing by L’Artisan. Heliodose is lovely, sweet, and just a bit funky (hugs). Dzing is an absolute barny sawdust and hay toss delight (double hugs) #perfumesky #fragrancesky

Spent the weekend in Portland sniffing around perfume shops and going to an amazing perfume swap. My #sotd is the result of visiting the ever lovely Fumerie - Odor 93 by Meo Fusciuni. A soft minty floral with a little funky waxiness. Reminds me of Pepsodent toothpaste in the nicest way #perfumesky

#sotd is L'Oree du Bois by Jaques Fath. This goes directly to the base on me - woody, a little dirty (I pick up cumin), with a bit of yellow flower rolling around a bit in the breeze behind the main notes. A good natured scent for a sunny spring day. #perfumesky

My #sotd is a decant of a vintage extrait of L’Aimant by Coty that I accidentally spilled on the back of my neck. It’s pleasant! A slightly rounder, sweeter No. 5.

And closing out my testing of the Stora Skuggan set: Mistpouffer- I like the opening but it gets odd fast. Dirty, wet plant matter synthetic. Like a smiling person that turns frowny the second the camera moves away, I don't trust this. Meh. Pine: Vaguely camphoraceous, so faintly piney. Weak wave.

Two more Stora Skuggan tests. Thumsucker: Cherry Hall's lozenges breath and talcum powder over thrift store cardigan from the goodwill (meh). Fantome de Maules: Minty vegetal bread mash. Green but as a closet lemon gourmand. Slightly astringent but creamy sweet at the same time. Confused wave.

It’s perfectly lovely in the PNW today and the gorgeous, aged cherry trees in front of our house are finally in full bloom. Soon, all will be covered in pink petal confetti. Until then, we all gaze up adoringly.
