If you're going to use a more niche word maybe...check to make sure you know how the word works. Singular: tisana plural: tisane

Book I'm reading is not a YA apparently. It reads like one though. Fantasy worldbuilding in particular seems to be hard and clunky more often than it isn't. I'm not angry about it, worldbuilding is hard, but I wish modern fantasy writing had more grace.

I wish YA wasn't always written... like *that*. The stories are not bad on their face, but the writing style tends to be so...annoying.

Nvm The Wolf and His King was pretty great actually. If I wasnt on zoloft, Id be weeping.

I think I love to connect with people through my work and their work but I can't make anything, and if I do, it's boring and is bad. I do not think of myself as a lonely person. I rarely need the companionship of others. But sometimes I feel an ache that makes me want to break things.

It really doesn't take much for a fantasy to feel overwrought, does it? I am reading The Wolf and His King and it feels like a bit much and I'm only one page 4.

I'm reading a book I am just noooot feeling (Our Rogue Fates) and man, I think writers really need to understand that liking(or at least being interested in) the character first is important to making all the lore not feel like nonsense being thrown at the reader.

Woooo the ending of Widow's Bay season 1 was goooood. Excited for season 2.

I've certainly learned a lot reading all these books. I do not like a casual tone in a fantasy book and I do not like when both characters in a romance think eachother is hot immedietly. Matters of taste, I do not think either of these are technically wrong.

I read Giovanni's Room. It made me angry. 41 books completed.

Finished "Till We Have Faces." It has been the most unorthodox Greek myth retelling I've read. Leave it to C.S Lewis to make a Greek Myth about Christianity lol. It was still quite good just...different.

I finished Pride and Prejudice. I understand why it is still beloved though, if I'm honest, what I really gained is a new appreciation for Austenland (my comfort movie).

Pride and Prejudice has me messed up. WHAT DO U MEAN MR. DARCY JUST BARELY TALKS TO ELIZABETH (AND MOST OF THAT IS ARGUING) AND STARES AT HER AND THEN HE PROPOSES??

Sometimes when you read random books/multiple books at the same time, you get overlapping themes. Interview with the Vampire and The Last Unicorn have some similar themes going on...which I should have expected but I did not.

The more I read, the less I understand my own taste.

Watched more Witch Hat today. The audio mixing is real bad. Also why did they have Tetia's va sound like that? She's been in other things I've watched and didn't sound like...the brother from the English dub of Ghost Stories.

The pencils for this had been sitting on my desk since December. I am so jealous of people who have an unrelenting need to create. I feel almost tortured for the whole process...and yet...

It's Me has been running through my head for a week straight. I think I like it because it feels creepy to me? Like this gaggle of pretty girls vying for the attention of an audience. They so badly want to be your favorite. I know that isn't the actual tone but it feels like that to me.

Decided to dnf His Black Tongue. The book kind of lies about itself a bit and I just couldn't get through the second short story. The first was just ok.

Finished You Should Be So Lucky. Unpopular opinion, but I think We Could Be So Good was better. I did like lucky though. 32 books down.

What constitutes a slow burn romance to you? I've read a few and I feel like...how most of these writers mean slow burn is not how I think of it. Just because activity takes place 300 pages in, doesn't mean it's a slow burn if the characters only knew eachother a week (to me).

So, I started reading The Charioteer. What is striking me is that because of the subject matter and the time in which it is written, the characters don't tell you what they're talking about. You have to pay attention because their speech is not always so direct.

I finished City of Rats. Don't...ugh just don't. I started Honor and Heresy and The Charioteer at the same time. Honor and Heresy is seeming to be...not to my taste. Very ow the edge.

The more I read of modern fiction/fantasy, the more I realise a good editor is worth their weight in gold. These books need so much help that they just did not seem to get.
