Bluesky has a vibrant reality tv junkie community that I spend a lot of time blocking on sight these days. If I see big brother or love island posts, I look at your timeline to see if it’s just a one-off or if you’re truly unwell. If it’s the latter, block immediately.

Stayed up way too late last night beating Donkey Kong Bonanza. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable platformer and definitely a strong evolution of Super Mario Odyssey. I also love how the game immediately drops you into a ‘continue/new game plus’ mode after credits have officially rolled.

We visited DC too. A couple of things we did: 1. Visited the African American History Museum and especially the bottom three floors (because that’s all we had time for and prioritized.) 2. Rode rental bikes about 18 miles on the Capital Crescent Trail from DC to Bethesda, Maryland and back.

Also, when we flew in, the plane had to circle for almost another hour just to wait for a severe thunderstorm to pass over the airport. Flying back across the US treated us to this very very active thunderhead not far off from our flight path! Flying in the modern age is kind of insane, folks!

Just came back from a 5 day trip to visit husband’s family in Virginia. Got caught and drenched in a few summer rainstorms with severe downpour that really put into perspective just how fast flash floods can happen in our modern times.

Superman is definitely a movie for the modern era. Probably one of the few super hero movies I’ve genuinely enjoyed in the past few years. Also can feel the Guardians vibes from it. Honestly wish James Gunn did all the Marvel movies too, they always feel so detached from the viewer.

I honestly can’t believe there hasn’t been a dual class action lawsuit against both @ubisoft.com and @rockstargames.com for their third party launchers breaking single player offline games so consistently. It’s literally stealing money from people who buy their product expecting it to just work.

Loved the ending of Death Stranding 2. Kojima’s storytelling via games as his medium is unparalleled. I also just love the themes of connectedness and human survival of the Death Stranding games.

Today I’m grateful for the friends and family in my life. I’m also grateful that we all come from so many different walks of life and cultural backgrounds. It’s why I fight for this idea of a country like that, even if the idea was always far removed from the reality because of those in power.

The funny thing about Bluesky is that I’ve successfully blocked all of the worst troll accounts but now I find myself blocking reality tv junkie accounts (especially a specific one that I fucking hate that it even still fucking exists!) It just really irritates me to see contextless posts.

I really love Elle Fanning’s character in Death Stranding 2. I also love her collaboration with Woodkid for “To the Wilder” in the soundtrack. This game has been such a needed meditative respite lately. I really like how much more streamlined it is than the first, I’m actually enjoying it all.

Death Stranding 2 is such a good game to play right now, I feel like. Granted, I don’t know where the story may eventually go but I am enjoying the general themes, even if they will probably change entirely by mid-game knowing Kojima.

I don’t know what it is about Death Stranding 2 but it just feels more streamlined than the first. You’re basically doing all the same stuff but something about it just really clicks this time.

In other news I finally figured out the best way to do emulation on Steam deck (batocera via a 1 tb flash drive) and I am loving the instant nostalgia and feeling like I am a god of video games now.

I’ve been playing my yearly replay of Half Life 2 and …hoo boy does it hit different in 2025, especially the beginning parts.

Have had a really wonderful bug over Memorial Day weekend that started with a sore/scratchy throat and has basically devolved me into a slime mold with phlegm, runny nose, goopy eyes, and throaty cough. Fun! Wondering how many others are experiencing this same shit right now. Seems to be common?

I also still think Abby comes off as a militaristic psychopath, and I certainly don’t think that whole part of the game of her with WLF will change anyone’s mind. Ellie’s revenge scheme is messy and dangerous, but she still comes off as human. But if they have that same fucking ending as the game…🤬

Also, I still maintain that they should have started the entire last of us 2 season with Abby’s back story. But whatever.

So it looks like they’re stretching Last of Us 2 to two distinct seasons to focus on Abby’s story next season. Kind of annoyed by the ‘cliffhanger’ of this season (but mostly because it has followed the game so closely beat by beat so I know what happens…)
