My secret superpower is a weirdly accurate internal clock. I can set a timer for however long, go and do other stuff and not consciously think about it, then reliably say 'beep beep' a couple of seconds before the timer ends. The kids think it is witchcraft. I can also predict journey and arrival

Child1 just told me that I would be utterly useless at The Traitors if I was a traitor and demonstrated how I would act, doing a scooby doo villain walk and sniggering like muttley saying 'oh no, not me, not a traitor, no sir.' It was astonishingly spot on I think.

Child2 won student of the week for learning to read which seems like a pretty straight win to me - hard to see how anyone topped that. He has asked for a takeaway as reward and I am inclined to allow it.

Might have found a house to move to, viewing tomorrow. 5 bedrooms plus an integral double garage that can be converted into child2's downstairs bedroom and wetroom and a small bedroom for his overnight carer.

I really dislike how outlook tries to suggest to me what to type while I'm typing an email. Especially with my 55% whimsy based replies. AI will never respond to someone giving me good news with 'well, that's ruddy smashing.' I however do.

Off to Paris for a few days R&R with Becky in a couple of weeks. We are going to spend a day at Versailles, do a tour of the city by night in a 2CV and we're booked in at La lapin agile for some montmarte fun. V.excited!

Child2 has not managed to learn to read yet at 15, primarily due to a visual impairment that's part of his brain injury. Anyway, school started using a different technique recently. He is learning to read. It's working. This is so wonderful I'm a little overwhelmed.

Access to the arts limited to people wealthy enough to not need to work apparently.

This whole singing at the wedding thing is really going to happen!

This morning's work soundtrack. One of my Christmas gifts. I saw Duke Special in Brighton a couple of weeks ago, he continues to be a remarkable and astonishing musician.

Child3 got me a battered 7" of The Human League's Louise and - weird John Lewis advert aside - it was really very touching. Some thought went into that.

My brain woke me at about 2am with the very real concern that I'd forgotten how to tie a bowline. It must have played a part in a dream or something. Anyway, I hadn't forgotten. I had a drink of water and went back to bed.

For people waiting with bated breath on updates to my boiler - it stopped working after it was serviced 3rd Oct. It's still broken. I have spent £1200 on repairs in the run up to Christmas. Each repair worked for a day or two. Now the repair company have said they can do no more and suggested I

It's been really very easy with child2's powerchair today. I did plan the journey first to pick the better interchanges, but everyone has been friendly and helpful and we didn't even need ramps on the district line, level access. He loved HHGTTG, it was a fab show.
