Hey everybody! It's mid-month global mean surface temperature snapshot time! And yes, that's right, do not adjust your television: at the height of the current La Nina, 2026 year-to-date is more than 1.51°C over the pre-industrial baseline.

Hi, Rachel! I'm curious about something Roger said at the opening of your recent interview, about what he can and cannot do, if he wishes to stay out of jail. But first, can you tell me if this interview was fairly recent, so that what he said about it, is still valid?

Here is a graph of the 3-year running mean for Arctic sea-ice volume, with daily values from Jan. 1, 1982 to Jan. 31, 2026. The record low minimum was 13,336 km³ on Oct. 30, 2019, but volume has been fairly flat since 2013. Is a new record low coming soon? Yes! Stay tuned!
