Another case of me solving a nuanced, irritating problem accidentally: my hiatal hernia had been acting up and I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. Well, it turns out it was the ice cold water from the well! I dug out this pitcher and now I’m drinking room temperature water. Problem solved.

It was 5°F when I looked at the temperature gauge this morning after I went out and threw some stale biscuits to the chickens. This is offensively cold weather. I am offended!

The itching returned completely. I have tried everything, no dice. I did not miss this at all. Oh to be itch free. Fuck shingles, goddamn.

So this bitterly cold weather may come in handy til this nerve itching goes away again! Cold is good for your vagus nerve & central nervous system, so I said let me go finally clean off my car buried in snow with only tshirt and sweatpants in 24°F weather. Glad to report the itching is 50% gone! 🥲💪

I think the best thing I learned is that we are not improvement projects. We are human beings. We should take care of ourselves and others so we can try and enjoy our short time on this silly rock.

Well, I did several things in a row wrong and unfortunately, the neuropathic itching has been back since yesterday and I am losing it. Once again, I would rather take any level of my chronic pain versus neuropathic itching. Oddly enough, I can’t feel my pain right now because I’m head to toe ITCH.

Turns out people noticed me gone on there? Surprising, but nice. I’ve been laden down with dozens of job openings for finance writing roles.

Done! I finally made the detachable hood with scarf idea I’ve dreaming of since this cold weather started. It is a vintage red floral corduroy with a soft twill lining and 100% cotton batting. It is super warm and even a bit noise muffling too! My dexterity spoons are gone, but I’m very happy. ✂️

I turn into a different creature entirely when it snows this much, I love it ❄️

My fellow humans I hope you’re warm enough, safe enough, have good health and access to care, a roof over your head, food for your belly, and are loved and experience compassion. Far too many horrors in our world. I send out love.

Get involved locally, seek out and build bonds with the people around you, learn their names, check in with them, lend a hand when needed. I can't stress enough how much they dread the trust and strength that can be found in community.

I have many fears for this timeline. So much is terrifying. I wish I could help more. I wish I could leave this country. I wish I could move somewhere so remote and off grid that I could primal scream and not scare anyone. I wish I didn’t understand what’s happening.

Hey #knitting and #sewing community. I picked up this merino wool mobius cowl in summer, and while I love it, it’s too short to double up, and too long to cover my neck. I’d like to turn it into a kind of detachable (maybe lined) hood. Is this doable? How do I do this w/o unraveling the knitting?

I was watching a mini doc about hoodoo or “rootwork“ of New Orleans, and it reminded me that I still need needed to make the calendula oil for my hands, because unfortunately, the eczema came back. This was fun and easy: thoroughly dried calendula flowerheads, grapeseed oil & fermentation weight.
