I'm reading or re-reading a few comics from DC's New 52 run in 2011. The New 52 was a huge success... for a short while. It created a huge sales spike, then petered out, and looking back is considered a creative low point for DC Comics. But not these three. My favorite 2011 DC books still slap.

Reading Joshua Williamson’s run on Green Arrow. It’s good, but I’m not immediately invested like I was for his Superman and Robin books. The run ended a few months ago at 31 issues plus extras. I’m less than halfway there, but will definitely follow through to the end.

Some comics updates. The Absolute Universe comics are all killer no filler. Including Flash and Green Lantern, both of which started slow but are getting really good. Poison Ivy still rules. The T.King Wonder Woman book is… having a rough time. HUGE downgrade from where it was around a year ago.

What an outstanding comic book. Williamson's run was flashier and cartoonier (13 issues) and PKJ's was more grim and poetic (18 issues). All excellent. Five paperbacks worth of awesome sequential art.

LOL I can't believe it took me this long to start reading the Joshua Williamson Batman & Robin book. It absolutely rules. Looking forward to seeing Philip Kennedy Johnson's run on it later, and already a bit disappointed that the book recently ended.

I’ve been slowly working my way through the six-part graphic novel “Justice League: The World’s Greatest Superheroes” by Alex Ross and Paul Dini. Published between 1998 and 2003. The artwork is so good it’s SHOCKING. Ross is a virtuoso. I just wish the stories were as good as the paintings.
