Yup. I wrote a couple of chapters and noticed I hadn't gendered Jaime in the text, so I didn't bother after that. There was no reason to. I didn't make any announcement about it at the time, so a lot of folks didn't even notice, they just went with whatever default they had in their head.

Something I hear from a lot of new TTRPG creators: “I’ve been working on a game for a few years, now…” Babe! Babe. Work on something smaller first, please. Make a couple smaller things first. Consider it practice. Build those skills before you put your whole ass into something.

hey late night bluesky. Had an idea earlier, sketched it all out. What if physical virtual pet simulator was a solo card game you played one session at a time? Soft legacy system, each end sets up for the next session. Decks change depending on how you played. 30 sessions and you set your mon free.

My regular suggestion: At the end of the semester why not reach out to someone whose work you taught and let them know? These days we have very little idea who teaches our stuff and in what contexts. It takes almost no time and can really make their day.

One well known challenge in writing RPGs is that the rulebook needs to serve multiple purposes. It needs to convey information about the game fiction/setting, instruct the reader how to play AND serve as a reference for the rules once play begins. That's a tall order.
