For the first time that I can remember, I spoke with a DHHS caseworker who genuinely seemed to want to help. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to conduct re/determination interviews and hear the desperation in people's voices day in and day out, but feeling heard matters.

The idea that serving in the military somehow automatically makes one suited to teaching our youth is disturbing. Decades of research have shown that even just going through basic training causes behavior changes that are necessary for warfare but that can cause difficulties . . .

I now have an entire chain of messages with my ex with me providing clear communication, respectful boundaries that benefit both of us regarding parenting time, and respectful communication. His responses are vague, brief, blunt, and he blames me for his lack of providing a clear answer.
