Today Gov Sherrill kept her promise for more affordable energy by announcing her endorsement of several bills to protect people from data centers! Together we can make sure they pay their fair share, pollute less, and support communities & workers alike.

This has been an issue for soooo long - despite being one the most effective ways to support families! Seriously one of the most studied programs.... Can we do better now? Please?

What do these companies have in common? -Block -Citigroup -Coinbase -CVS -Dominion Energy -Disney -Halliburton -Hasbro -HP -Kohl's -Live Nation -Palantir -Paypal -PG&E -Southwest Airlines -Tesla -United Airlines They all paid a lower effective income tax rate than you: zero.

"Additions require subtractions." It's true that governments need to balance budgets. But cuts are not the only way! Schools, health care, transportation -- they're funded through TAXATION. Billionaires and big biz have enriched themselves at our expense. Taxation can get that money back to NJ

The Governor's first budget proposal confronts the difficult fiscal reality NJ finds itself in. It prioritizes families and key programs like schools and pensions. BUT the goal of expanding opportunity will mean giving families more supports, building stronger govt programs, and taxing the rich.

So beyond disappointing to hear Governor @mikiesherrill.bsky.social talk about affordability and opportunity but make no mention of our most vulnerable populations - immigrants, incarcerated or formerly incarcerated people, and their children. And poverty? Did not hear that word once.

It's true that NJ and states need more tools to claw back the wealth that has been extracted from our state by big tech CEOs. But the most powerful tool at our disposal is taxation, ensuring that companies cannot escape their responsibilities by hiding behind shell companies and paper losses

Reducing the income cap and benefit amount of Stay NJ saves money and ensures that wealthy homeowners are not disproportionately benefiting. This was our proposal from last year. Looks pretty similar, with some differences (Sherrill proposal has higher income cap $250k and lower benefit cap $4k)

I agree with @mikiesherrill.bsky.social. Surveillance is a HUGE problem. I cannot wait to get to work on limiting access to our data - but hope we will also focus on protecting the privacy of vulnerable populations

A note on the corporate tax loopholes: - it was clear at the time that big corporations would exploit the "net operating losses" (NOL) claims to reduce their future tax liabilities, and they ended up avoiding billions in taxes

All joking aside, this is a HUGE win for New Jersey. The bridge needs to be replaced; that fact was never in question. But now it will be replaced with a more affordable version that won’t increase traffic and pollution for nearby communities!

It's possible for two things to be true at once: 1) Taxing the mega-wealthy is insufficient to address all social ills and broad-based economic security programs 2) Taxing the mega-wealthy is sufficient to address SOME of those ills, while reducing billionaires' outsize influence on public policy
