I like the way Starmer says ‘We recognised the State of Israel more than 75 years ago as a homeland for the Jewish people’ as if the UK had no role in those events and no responsibility for how they played out.

This was a fascinating listen but they should have had a critical antisemitism scholar on too, whether David Feldman, Anthony Lerman or me. Dave Rich espouses a very ideological position and it needs more balance than Jo Glanville was willing to give it.

It appears that there's a widespread view in Israel that if its army can do something then it should, regardless of negative consequences, and its 'skill' in bombing various neighbouring countries is celebrated. Only if the operation failed to kill the Hamas leaders will it be viewed as a failure.

Israel has long claimed that the war would end if Hamas gave up the hostages and surrendered. Today’s attack shows this to be false. Israel seeks only ‘total victory’ over Hamas. Since it rarely distinguishes between Gazans and Hamas this effectively means emptying Gaza of all Palestinians.

We should judge YourParty on the policies it ultimately adopts on trans rights, not on whether it admits people who have a chequered record on the issue. Demanding they ban people one step removed from GCs/TERFs has worrying echoes of the demands made to Labour over antisemitism in 2015-2020.

Here's how the real two-tier Britain works: 1. Whatever Nigel Farage says, however stupid, is looped and discussed by the media, while left-wing voices are treated as noises off. 2. Tiny far-right protests get massive airtime, while 10s of 000s gathering for Palestine or green causes are ignored.🧵

To decide if a form of anti-Zionism is praiseworthy or antisemitic you just need to see if the ‘Zionism’ it opposes means Jews ruling as much as possible of historic Palestine while trying to minimise the number of Palestinians Arabs within it (the former) or Jews controlling the world (the latter).
