Wood smoke is very targetted pollution – next door neighbour could be getting >250µg/m³ PM2.5 indoors while someone a few doors down may not even smell smoke! Very easy to ignore until your neighbour starts burning. That’s why it needs to be considered by emissions per appliance, NOT local averages.

Air quality agencies like this one need to stop downplaying the harm of certified stoves as well, but this is a good start—much better to see old stoves scrapped than replaced with another wood stove!
