This week, The Guardian highlighted a report which states what the Biomass Action Network has been saying all along: burning wood for energy is not carbon-neutral! In fact,“wood can emit twice as much carbon per unit of energy produced as fossil gas and is far less efficient in generating energy”.

Drax's North Yorkshire plant in the U.K. has received record subsidies of almost £1bn, or $1.3 billion, for burning #trees to generate electricity in 2025. Governments shouldn't be #subsidizing the destruction of forests and #polluting air in communities.
