It's still a work in progress with several kinks and wobbles to iron out, but I'm close to acheiving a fully dynamic wing membrane for my Pterosaur rig. No shape keys or parts swapping here, all cloth simulation plus laplacian smoothing.

Quick #FossilFriday #paleoart post: a 2025 redo of my 2019 take on the giant #deer Megaloceros. Palaeolithic art captures some aspects of Megaloceros appearance but the details are not unambiguous: when is a line across a body a stripe, when is it a boundary between colour regions?

I get the feeling that, aside from getting funding and justifying your research, the biggest hurdle to science is getting RStudio to INCLUDE THAT FIGURE LEGEND YOU NEED

Controversial take but I just don't think we should invest a ton of money in space travel until we take care of our own planet. There's this dangerous idea that we can destroy our home because eventually we'll colonize other planets and frankly? We won't live long enough to do that at this rate.

Science aside. 🧪🦑 The thing that really bugs me about AI images is that REAL IMAGES OF CORAL REEFS EXIST. WHY NOT USE REAL IMAGES INSTEAD OF AI GENERATED GLOSSY UGLY IMAGES THE BURN AN UNREAL AMOUNT OF CARBON EMISSIONS DURING THE PROCESS

This isn't a singular problem. I've seen (bio) academics of all systems using AI images of trees, animals, and other organisms. Where's the pride for the natural REAL beauty of your system? Do you not have a singular image? Are you not able to ask others to use their images with credit?
