I remember being told that it would take 193 years to reach legal limits for nitrogen dioxide. I decided this was unacceptable. Thanks to the bold policies we put in place, we've managed to do it in nine years - 184 years earlier than expected.

On Sunday, #Zürich residents voted 52.8% in favor of increasing parking fees for cars according to weight. The owner of a BMW X2 (Diesel), which weighs 1,675 kilograms, will now pay equivalent of €717 Euros per year to park on a public street. (Before, about €321.) Direct democracy!

One of these vehicles is designed specifically for cities, professionally driven and available to the public. The other... just as big (or bigger!) and yet wholly exclusive with little practical use in urban areas. Surely #carspreading is a red flag to city planners?

💯Oxfordshire have a huge opportunity to deliver an equitable Congestion Charge for Oxford by varying the cost according to car size. #carspreading is causing lots of harm in our cities - less public space, road danger, increased emissions, potholes and congestion is another slice of the challenge!

In the last year, to May 2025, the average costs of running a car fell by 0.1% while the cost of public transport increased by 5%
