Here’s the final style of Glowie we’re making! Shooting stars and flames! These fun animations draw attention without being too distracting, and their battery life is double the solid Glowies, so around 20-24 hrs on a single charge.

Anyone interested in ~hexagonal Fibonacci LED tiles? Each tile would be unique, but could be combined together to form large displays of various shapes and sizes. These would be ~20cm tiles with ~200 SK9822 LEDs each. Six rings would be 91 tiles, 2.2m wide, 18k pixels, and could draw up to 2.7kW. 😁

Instead of pixels being only off or on you can use a wave function for brightness. The period of the wave is each pixels' radius, you get a much smoother pattern. The

In disc phyllotaxis, like Fibonacci256, lighting every N LEDs from the center produces a pattern. If N is from the Fibonacci sequence a spiral (or mesh of spirals) is produced because the divergence (angle of succession in a single spiral arrangement) approaches the golden ratio.

Today I'm reworking a Fibonacci512 using the same technique as the F1024 from yesterday: isolate dead pixels with a jumper wire, desolder using an aluminum shim and lots of flux, and replace with new pixels.

I haven't ordered new PCBs lately because
tariffsarebullshit.com
so I tackled my rework pile. I had enough to build a Fibonacci1024 but one needed rework. I used a thin wire to jump the first dead LED, which didn't light the rest. So I jumped the last lit LED which ended up being the culprit.
