Some spots in the San Diego County mountains had a wonderfully wet three days. The coast & valleys didn't quite meet expectations. San Diego ended up with just 0.14 of an inch. El Niño is favored to develop this summer, with a 1 in 4 chance of a very strong El Niño by fall, per @noaa.gov forecast released today. This El Niño will add abundant heat to the oceans and atmosphere globally. Stronger El Niño makes impacts to midlatitude (i.e. California) weather more likely.

The first of two low pressure systems that will bring much-needed precipitation to the state is approaching the Northern California coast. Impacts in San Diego could start as early as Friday night.
