Tomorrow is open door day at Eawag and we are doing a community science project, looking at the #biofilm in peoples shower hose, and using that as a platform to discuss #legionella and #drinkingwaterquality. Photo shows diverse biofilms from 12 shower hose 😀 🦠🧫

🦠🧫 Microbiology opinions needed: A thick white jelly-like biofilm in a toilet tank (cistern). Water is groundwater decalcified with ion-exchange. System is about 4 years in operation. Microscopy shows loads of bacteria. Any suggestions on a probable cause would be most appreciated!

Applicants’ scientific track record and expertise: "The scientific output does not seem very impressive...." No worries, I won't take this research proposal rejection too personally 😂
