I went along to planning committee to speak up for St David’s ward against this coliving development. The committee backed my request not to let it become a gated community. They then agreed to defer application on grounds of height & massing. We still don’t need more coliving on this one street!

In Exeter hundreds turned out, rejecting Britain First & UKIPs devisive message. Even with their leader there not many joined them. Minorities aren’t the cause of our country’s problems. Exeter’s not without problems, but it’s a great place to live & work & our diverse community lives well together

It seems clear: the decision by the Exeter City Council leader to ask for a cancelation is not evidence based and puts the interests of the Labour Party above the need for a democratic mandate.

The letter makes clear that never once, since the wheels of Local Government Reform (LGR) were set in motion, has any report suggested that Exeter City Council lacked the resources to deliver both the May 2026 elections and a comprehensive LGR programme.

A joint letter signed by leaders of the local Green Party, Liberal Democrats, Conservatives, Equity Independent Group & Reform UK, makes clear there is little confidence in the Labour leader - his letter to the Minister does not fairly represent the views put forward at the recent Council meeting.

Opposition parties in Exeter have put their political differences aside to urge the Local Government Minister to give the go-ahead for elections in the city in May.

Here in #Exeter we have local elections every year… at least we thought we did. Local Government reorganisation isn’t an exceptional reason for local #Labour to cancel democracy. The Labour Government should value local democracy and local services and pay for them.

Labour finds itself in deep water over its announcement to close Northbrook pool. They don't seem to thought about the consequences for the community.

Members of the public raise concerns: "It is a premature decision based on factual inaccuracies" "Council has shown a sheer lack of respect" "Many autistic & disabled children cannot cope with St Sidwell Point - the opportunity to learn to swim will not be available to many children in the area."

So in the end a recommendation to the Executive to work with the community & backing for my recommendation to explore the release of funds from a VAT refund to support a future for the pool. So we'll have to see what the Labour decide tomorrow: close the pool or seriously explore community options?
