That's Bionic Bay bested. Some proper jaw-clenching eye of the needle platforming in places, but generally a great time. Introduces a mechanic in the last couple of levels I'd liked to have played with for longer, but better that than anything outstaying its welcome.

I finished Rosewater last night. Around 14 hours. It's an epic journey and adventure with a really great ending and choices that affect your posse companions along the way. I'd recommend it to any adventure game fan. Great writing and lots of puzzles. Enjoyed it greatly. #gamedev

Strong agree. “Games that feel like movies” is not some holy grail of gaming, it’s at best a milestone (perhaps even a step backwards b/c non-interactivity). Games will eventually be (and sometimes already are) far superior to film as a means of storytelling and experiential entertainment.

Big game studios trying to imitate movies risk giving up the advantages of video games (interactivity). Indies trying to imitate big studios risk giving up the advantages of being small (flexibility/speed). Great advice from Derek that can be expanded to other parts of game-making, too!

Scale in videogames is really annoying and hard

Good thread. Sara and I often start by looking for our “signature scene” — like a fashion designer looking for their “defining piece”. This is an exercise in art, design, feel, mood, and tone. It visual, interactive, and auditory. Then we build on it. It often takes months to get that scene.
