Had this Mallard at Milton Abbas yesterday. Odd colouring, a white cheek patch and, most striking of all, a white crest. Does anyone know if this an aberration or a hybrid?

One for the Gull experts (Phil) as I am useless with them. Just going through my photos & found this one from Lodmoor on 16th Feb. Obviously took a photo as it appeared slightly different. Am I getting confused again?
