A bit of an out of character read for me because I really can’t stand crime (it’s usually too obvious and/or unnecessarily brutal), but I’m so glad I took a chance on this. It kept me engaged and guessing to the end and I *loved* the brief appearance of my “profession”. 1/2

All my comfort books involve some kind of depressing time in history: bubonic plague/big fire, Civil War, AIDS crisis, Thatcher's regime. Maybe it's a "things could be worse" thing

Anything by Raymond Chandler, and I say *anything* because I can never remember any of the plots, or really tell you what's going on at any one time, but the dialogue and descriptions are always so great, it doesn't really matter.
