For the first time since I started attending FOSDEM in 2010, there will be no PostgreSQL Devroom in 2026. Feels unbelievable for one of the defining open source projects of the last decade. At least there's

Great idea! I always wondered how all these DB platforms could implement full Postgres compatibility and assumed it was mostly T-SQL syntax and enough auth + config support to use a standard Postgres JDBC / ODBC driver.

So many databases claim to be compatible with
#Postgres
these days, but what does that really mean?
@pgdba.bsky.social
tries to provide an objective answer with the Postgres Compatibility Index, which verifies compatibility in a wide range of criteria. Loving to see this effort!

End-to-end demo of the new pg_incremental extension. There's raw events table and a summary table containing view counts. You then define a pipeline using an insert..select command, and keeps running that to do fast, reliable, incremental processing in the background.

I’m a big believer in Postgres for its versatility and simplicity. If you don’t need a full-blown message queue like Kafka or RabbitMQ, Postgres gets the job done. Thanks to ACID transactions, tools like PGMQ and DBOS queues leverage Postgres where durability and exactly-once delivery are built-in.

The way DBOS works is pretty cool - it the “state” of every Function execution in Postgres. If you're a gamer, it's a bit like having a “save point" in your programs. Check out how it work here:
