The fact that social media and app companies can track all our data is not an argument for id cards. It is an argument for stopping software companies being able to do that.

Why are the American president's claims about autism the first item on British news bulletins? He's not our president, the advice doesn't apply here and he's not presented any evidence to support his assertions. So why spread these claims? What make this the biggest story in the UK?

People say "autism never used to exist" and then you go to the Natural History Museum and the exhibit has a caption like "Born in 1762, The Revd [name] was famously irascible, steadfast in his routine, and dedicated his life to collecting 25,000 rare beetle specimens".

I don't think it's wise of the Lib Dems to promote the idea that asylum constitutes a national emergency, justifying use of the Civil Contingencies Act. That Act bestows enormous powers on ministers, to be used only in "the most serious of emergencies". Would Davey want Farage having those powers?

Here's a better idea: every data centre you build, you build enough renewable energy to power it, and you supply the waste heat from your cooling system to power homes and businesses nearby. Simple. Common sense. And fair.

Why was the protest even allowed to go ahead yesterday? There are rightly limits to free speech, should there not also be limits to the right to protest. Whatever the beliefs of anyone attending, this was a far-right racist protest and that has no place in a society I want to belong to.

Linking green energy to your local school, your hospital, your workplace is a really smart thing to do. The anti-Net Zero movement wants to cast it as some top-down, abstract diktat that will make "ordinary people" cold and poor. So the fightback needs to emphasise its tangible, local benefits.
