This is a great book for if you’re equal parts scared of and fascinated by horror, sincerely a scaredy baby horror lover who made a writing path out of engaging with things I was afraid of and fascinated by in equal measure.

I finished her and I love her. Perpetually indebted to @claymcleod.bsky.social for putting it on my radar so me and this book didn’t have to go a day of its life without knowing each other. I can’t tell that Leah Rowan has an account here but I hope she knows I love her.

Getting to review IMPETIGORE turned out to be fundamentally altering for me, not for any career advancement reasons (although I WILL REVIEW YOUR FOREIGN HORROR) but because Joko Anwar is operating on a level I feel gifted to see.

Turned on Tokyo Gore Police for the first time for obvious reasons and immediately hell yeah.

Trying to watch award shows for other interests (like music!) is always a bit of a roulette. The tv will never tell me but I know Stray Kids won tonight in my heart. And so did Bad Bunny and Rosalia. But it’s so secret they don’t want you to know it happened. Ah well. May as well relive my peak

There’s a house in my general area somewhere that is super old and consequently probably haunted, that we walked around the outside of one time a few years ago. The entire path up to the house was covered in cicadas; this is kinda what looking into the inside through the windows felt like.

The more I hear and or see about Obsession the more convinced I get that when I do get to see it I will need an UNPARALLELED emotional support snack to get me through, but I am really loving that it’s killing the game right now. It’s gonna ruin my night but it might be cathartic, who’s to say.

I was catching up yesterday and never so frequently have a giggled and kicked my feet and then immediately gasped and/or been like “wait what was that”. They’re doing things in Widow’s Bay that make me excited about horror tv again in a way I didn’t really clock I had lacked.

Just finished Taste of Fear/Scream of Fear, a Hammer film that center’s disability, whips ass, and, while not perfect, is wonderfully twisty. I have some issues, but overall an incredible watch that is, weirdly, only on YouTube as far as I was able to find.

Spent last night catching up on Widow’s Bay and watching Vincent Price movies, ever fascinated by the way some of them are much more divisive than I realized, per Letterboxd, but also by his consistent portrayal of artists in general. Known for villains, but should be for artists (also).

Forever torn between putting the ask of is there literally anyone local in my area to befriend and the idea that “are there any writers/creative people in Alabama” usually leads to a no with the most viscous side eye in the world lmao.

Widow’s Bay really is that girl.

I want to read all the things about Obsession because while I am afraid of it for personal reasons I’m also very excited to see it, but it intrigues me that I haven’t yet come across anyone saying anything about him being named Bear. It’s my only thought line relevant to the movie atm til I see it

I come to you from the other side of this book. Absolutely repulsive and incredible entry into the Good For Her. Also, contains a Renesmee if she slayed. 10/10 audiobook experience

This is repulsive in ways I could not have even imagined. Every 45 seconds I am audibly yelling “ugh” (complimentary)

I have run to request it at my library I cannot wait for it to appear and be so immersive that I dissociate outside while listening to the bones.

Watched a movie that was bad so as penance I’m listening to the wisdom of the masses and starting Widow’s Bay. The immediate Jaws Mayor vibes are promising.
