I think it's more that they assume anything of any aesthetic is more expensive because it's marketed like that. They see "art auctioned for $200000" and think the artist gets that money, not the dealer.

The years I spent using supplies almost exclusively from the dollar store would shock and disgust these fools

One of the joys of photography has been that it shows us things beyond our experience and it stretches our idea of what the world is like. Our reality is shrinking down to what we have directly experienced. Everything beyond that could be a dream.

See, this picture is exactly why AI existing in its current mass marketed form is a bad thing We live in a world where it is increasingly impossible to take anything at face value. Making it acceptable for the populace at large to question REALITY is why we're in this mess

I keep saying, Google intentionally making its search worse is a world-historical fumble, and it's a huge opportunity for so many others across the internet, if they'll just seize it..

I don't do image only, but my main feed is the Following one, and I got rid of the Discover one. I do have a list I've added certain news accounts to, but I only look at it when I'm inclined to. I also am subbed to a handful of amazing blocklists. It's so frikkin' peaceful. 😌

I'm still everywhere I just only post. You can even find plugins for chrome/firefox that will block feeds if you look.

I do want to mention, that this was such an issue for me that I had anxiety over not being plugged in for like the first month I was limiting my intake of pure uncut information. 💀

Ever since I learned this, I have made a point to preorder books from authors and artists I follow from my local bookstore. Often, they'll order an extra copy or two to stock on the shelves. It's crazy how low the number is to make a tangible difference!
